I'm a bit of a self-taught computer graphics artist. My love of CGI began in 1988 with my first personal computer, the Commodore Amiga. You may never have heard of it, but at the time the Amiga was hands-down one of the world's most powerful and versatile computer graphics workstations. Not to mention a killer game machine.
I'm not much of an artist by hand, but I have great respect and admiration for those gifted with the ability to draw and paint. Since I've never shown any inate skill for pen, pencil, or paint, I had to wait for a tool like the Amiga to come along.
My basic graphics and animation skills evolved from creating images and animations with EA's original Deluxe Paint. Today, I'm a dedicated user of Adobe Photoshop and Autodesk's 3ds Max.
Speaking of which - this image, Space Station Regula One, is one of my more recent attempts at art. Created and rendered with 3ds Max 2008, it's a single-frame test image from an animation I'm currently working on. It depicts Star Trek's USS Enterprise docked at Space Station Regula One.

I'm mostly satisfied with the lighting and camera angles in this shot, but I've been told that the deflector dish doesn't look quite right...I'll be playing around with the lighting to see if I can bring it out a bit. The background, from an image titled Edge of Midnight by 'hameed, doesn't really work in my animation, so I'll ultimately have to replace that with a 3D starfield.
